Finally, after 3 years in the staging area of my desk, I finished these 36 Germans.
33 are Blitz models, with the odd underfire / CP. They are specifically prepared for gaming with Battlegroup rules, but can be easily used with other rules also.
They were all painted following Piers Brand painting guide on the Battlegroup Blitzkrieg book. All used mostly vallejo paints, except for the flesh colours (citadel triad). Final Varnish is MIG matt.
Feldblouse: Field Grey
Pants & Gas mask: London Grey
Helmet: German Grey
Gas tube & mess tin: Military green
Bread Bag: Canvas
Watercanteen: red leather + brown leather
Rifle: new wood
I also used Aleran decals for the helmet markings. Please be aware to do the complete decal treatment if using them (gloss varnish + micro set + micro sol)
The platoon represented is from an Infantry Division, with 10 men per squad. It can be easily converted to a Schutzen platoon (for Pz. Divisions) by removing one riflemen from each rifle team.
And, OF COURSE, they are 20mm (the only & true scale)
HQ squad: they were all Blitz, except the one standing firing which is TQD. I put a Lieutenant and a Feldwebel leading the platoon. That comes handy if I want to use the platoon for some other skirmish rules (like Bolt Action or CoC)
MG team 1: the MG team proper is a Blitz one. But the loader (a former light mortar loader) got a minimal mod, by replacing his mortar ammo boxes by MG ammo ones.
The NCO leading the team is a TQD figure I think. And would be replaced later by one carrying a rifle (more proper in 1940).
Rifle team 1: Again, all Blitz models, except the NCO, which is the same figure, firing his SMG, as the one leading MG team 1
MG team 2: Two of them are blitz. The loader one marching is a TQD casting. Again, I will replace the NCO with a rifle armed one when I have time.
Rifle team 2: All blitz figures.
MG team 3: All Blitz figures. The man firing the MG was easily transformed from one firing an AT rifle, by adding a proper MG34 from a Sgt Mess weapons kit. The loader was also from the AT rifle team, with an added open MG ammo box (also from Sgt Mess). The NCO will be replaced with a rifle carrying one.
Rifle team 3: All blitz figures. I particularly love the NCO figure.
Platoon Support Weapons: All blitz ones. These ones were painted more than 2 years ago, so quality may be lower than the previous ones.
Deployed for battle: here the platoon redy for it first battle, where, of course, they were slaughtered by the BEF.
Hope you like them.
Next platoon will be a french one!
